| Mauthe Dhoog - Haunted Peel Castle on the Isle of Man. It manifests as a Black Dog the size of a calf with pewter plate-like eyes, or as a shaggy haired spaniel. It usually spells doom for those who see it, and those foolish individuals who seek it out have a tendency to find it. One bored soldier, fortified with a few drinks went in search of it, and his screams brought the others. He gibbered about the 'Dhoog" before he died. The same fate befell a Methodist Minister who attempted to exorcise the spirit. |
