![]() Chris Parasyte Writer Calgary, Alberta A certified young’un by many standards, chris parasyte is a writer and DJ currently making his base of operations in Calgary, Alberta – way up north on the frozen Canadian plains. New to StarVox, he is also a staff writer and assistant editor for Calgary’s own Comatose Rose Magazine (www.comatoserose.com). Born in the UK around the same time as New Wave, he was brought to North America shortly after. When he was a kid his much cooler older sister force-fed him a steady diet of Depeche Mode, Duran Duran and The Cure - and it stuck. In junior high he discovered KMFDM and Nine Inch Nails through their videos (back when you actually saw decent videos on TV), and it was all downhill from there. He’s always looking for new and innovative harder-edged electronic music, and seldom finding it, generally stomps around town muttering to himself about the current state of the industrial music scene. Since the early spring of 2001, parasyte
has been the host of Dead Air, a weekly radio program specializing (but
not limited to) the industrial, EBM, synth and goth genres. The objective
of Dead Air is to wake this town up, save its citizens from the horror
and drudgery of commercial FM radio, and to show them just how good music
can be. Dead Air can be heard every Tuesday night at midnight on the University
of Calgary’s student radio station, CJSW FM (www.cjsw.com)
as well as in live RealAudio at the station’s website. Playlists from the
show are available online at www.darkcalgary.com
(in the playlist forums) and at www.industrial.org
(in the DJ listings).
